Paris Hilton boycotted the Cannes premiere of her new movie after a feud with the producers. The socialite was furious after discovering National Lampoon’s Pledge This! filmmakers had added nudity to the movie without checking with her first.

Socialite Paris Hilton, who stars in new comic film National Lampoon’s Pledge has promised fans they can expect to see her showing off her sexy body in several racy scenes.
“It’s a very sexy movie. It’s all about hot sorority girls at college and everybody’s beautiful. They are lots of sexy scenes,” Femalefirst quoted Hilton as telling Top Of The Pops magazine.

Actress Hilary Swank, who won two Academy Awards for her performances in Boys Don’t Cry and Million Dollar Baby, is divorcing her husband of eight years Chad Lowe, a spokesperson for the couple confirmed.
“Hilary Swank and Chad Lowe have jointly decided to divorce,” an attorney for the couple, Jeffrey A. Bernstein, told the magazine in a story posted on its Web site Friday. “They continue to be friends and have the utmost respect for one another.”

Thirty-one-year-old Swank and 38-year-old Lowe, who have no children, had a painful breakup in January, following which Swank said she and her husband were working towards saving their marriage. “Hilary and Chad have decided to separate. They are hopeful they’ll be able to get through this tough time,” her publicist had said when the couple separated. Read more!

Singer Gwen Stefani, wife of British rock star Gavin Rossdale, gave birth to the couple’s first child Friday, a son they named Kingston, her publicist said.
According to the artist’s rep, Dave Tomberlin, Stefani gave birth to Kingston James McGregor Rossdale by Caesarean section at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. The baby weighed 7 ½ pounds.

Michael Jackson arrived in Japan on Friday to appear at his first public event since his acquittal on sex-abuse charges last June, his local agent in Japan said. Pop star Michael Jackson will make his first public appearance since his trial acquittal last June, flying to Tokyo to accept MTV Japan’s “Legend Award,” his spokeswoman said Thursday.
Jackson’s participation in the award ceremony Saturday at Yoyugi Olympic Stadium will launch an Asian tour. Jackson also plans to visit Singapore, Shanghai and Hong Kong, spokeswoman Raymone K. Bain said in a telephone interview from her Washington, D.C., office Thursday. Read more!

Folk singer Joan Baez has taken up residence in a tree with activist Julia “Butterfly” Hill in order to raise awareness about 14 acres of farmland under threat from the land’s owner. Baez, who gave voice to Vietnam War protesters, and Julia “Butterfly” Hill, whose late 1990s anti-logging protest drew widespread attention, said they would occupy the tree in shifts.

She is hoping that the Hollywood actress Daryl Hannah, who has joined the campaigners along with musician Ben Harper, will also try to climb the tree. The only thing preventing her is her fear of heights. “It was wonderful to be up there and away from everybody, looking at the stars through the leaves,” Baez continued. “The freight trains [that pass nearby] are so loud but I did not hear them … For me it was a wonderful experience.” Read more!

Australian actress Cate Blanchett has recently signed an agreement to play Bob Dylan in the biopic “I’m Not There.” The Oscar winner actress is one of seven actors to play Dylan at various stages of his career in the biopic, tentatively scheduled for release next year. She’ll portray a specific aspect of Dylan’s personality, embodied by an androgynous singer-songwriter character named Jude, according to Killer Films, the movie’s production company. Read more!

Beanie Sigel, the popular rapper who has been shadowed by his violent past, was wounded by gunfire during an attempted robbery early Thursday. Sigel was shot during what may have been a robbery attempt shortly after 8 a.m. EDT, AllHipHop.com reported. The apparent holdup was attempted by five males traveling in two cars, according to police. It was not clear where the shooting took place.

Sigel told police that five black men in two vehicles boxed him in and that a bearded man in jeans and boots opened fired, hitting the rapper once in his upper-right arm. Sigel’s wallet, watch and other items were taken. Read more!

According to the New York Post, Tito Moses, 31, and Steven Wortman, 40, were busted after trying to sell the video to undercover cops posing as Anthony’s associates.
That 2 man accused of attempting to extort $1 million from Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony in exchange for the salsa singer’s stolen laptop, which held a digital copy of the couple’s June 2004 nuptials, were arrested during an NYPD sting operation Tuesday.

“They were shocked because they thought they were coming for their payday–and instead, they got the surprise of their lives,” Major Case Squad Inspector Michael Hines told the newspaper. Read more!

Kate Moss will defy police demands to return to Britain to face allegations of drug-taking, insisting she’s too busy working. If police want to force her back sooner, they’ll have to speak to her lawyers, one of the her aides insisted. Yet last night, a source said she still intends to return.

“She will come when she has time but she has two or three photoshoots to do first,” the source said. “The police know who her lawyers are and if they want to force her to come back they will have to speak to them rather than the newspapers.

Jennifer Lopez reportedly having trouble on getting a backer for a film musical based on the George Bizet opera Carmen. According to the New York Daily News, investors aren’t willing to put up the $50 million needed for the project, even though Ray director Taylor Hackford was tapped to direct the film. Hackford said Thursday (December 29), “Carmen is on its last legs. Studios are so frightened at the moment that they are looking for outside money.”

Hackford thinks that there’s a lot of fear in Hollywood because so many films aren’t doing well at the box office. But, he also admits that studio heads think audiences won’t accept JLo as the legendary vixen who is murdered by her jilted lover. He said, “[Carmen] is not a sweet, nice girl. This is a piece about a criminal. We want to do a tough, hard version, but Hollywood thinks the audience [for Jennifer Lopez] is 13-year-old girls. …It has an ending that Hollywood does not like to make.” Read more!
