“Little Miss Sunshine” big hit at Sundance Film Festival
The Sundance Film Festival on Monday entered its second week with more stars and parties than ever before, but lack of action had industry tongues wagging “I told you so” and only one big movie sale.
“Little Miss Sunshine”, that film that sold and went for a hefty price with more than $10 million, as it may surpass the festival’s record film sale of $10.25 million by “Happy, Texas” in 1999.
Twentieth Century Fox specialty division Fox Searchlight bought this film for the eye-popping sum that topped $10 million plus extra money based on the film’s potential box office performance.
Meanwhile “Brokeback Mountain”, the story of a romance between two cowboys two lonely ranch hands who initiate a secret love affair, is climbing at the box office with their grossed $42 million.
Another films that getting good buzz at Sundance are “Thank You for Smoking”, a comedy about a man promoting tobacco sales, which Fox Searchlight will distribute, and “The Illusionist”, played by Edward Norton which tells of a magician, who uses his tricks to battle an Austrian prince for the woman he loves.
