Madonna As New Face Of H&M
Mega-popstar Madonna will be the new face of Swedish retailers H and M, after the company decided to drop model Kate Moss after her battle with drug allegations late last year. The 47-year-old, who is currently on tour promoting her latest album, ‘Confessions on a Dancefloor,’ will appear in the campaign alongside her dancers.
According to reports, the Swedish store will supply off-stage wardrobes for Madonna, her dancers and the crew on her Confessions world tour. All members of her “Confession Tour” – including the band, dancers and crew – will wear H&M designs.
Madonna says of her new job: “Partnering up with H&M feels like a perfect fit. We’ll all get to express ourselves in our individual ways. The dancers and I are excited to go shopping together.”
H&M’s head of design, Margareta Van Den Bosch, adds, “This is a thrill for H&M. Aside from being great fans of Madonna’s music and fashion sense, we admire her ability to always be ahead of the trends in everything she does”.
As part of the cross-promotion, H&M will be selling a specially designed Madonna tracksuit, due to hit stores in August. She and her singers will also appear in ad for the company. Madonna’s worldwide “Confessions Tour” opened May 21 and runs through Sept. 3.
