Kate Moss Escapes From Drug Charges

Kate Moss Drug ChargesBritish prosecutors said Thursday they would not charge model Kate Moss over allegations of cocaine use reported in a tabloid newspaper _ despite strong evidence she was using illegal drugs.
The Daily Mirror published pictures in September of the supermodel apparently using cocaine in a west London music studio where her then-boyfriend, musician Pete Doherty, was recording with his group Babyshambles.

“The film footage provides an absolutely clear indication that Ms. Moss was using controlled drugs and providing them to others,” Rene Barclay, the Crown Prosecution Service’s London director of serious casework said in a statement. “However, in the absence of any forensic evidence, or direct eyewitness evidence about the substance in question, its precise nature could not be established.”
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) in England said there was “insufficient evidence” to proceed.

Moss, 31, lost contracts with H&M, Burberry and Chanel after the photos were published, but her career seems to have suffered no lasting damage.
After apologizing to “all the people I have let down” and visiting a rehab clinic in Arizona she resumed her international career, signing new contracts with Calvin Klein, cell-phone brand Virgin Mobile and French luxury label Longchamp and appearing on several magazine covers.

Kate Moss has since rebounded from the bad publicity, signing contracts with Nikon, Calvin Klein, Virgin Mobile and Longchamp, appearing on the covers of French Vogue and Vanity Fair and inking a deal to write a memoir.
Doherty hasn’t been quite so lucky. The Babyshambles frontman has since pleaded guilty to heroin and cocaine possession and checked into a detox center in Portugal last week.

Away from the catwalk, Ms Moss’ own wardrobe choices have given her a reputation for setting new fashion trends. In recent years she has been credited with sparking the return to fashion of skinny jeans, mini-dresses and hot-pants.
