The White Stripes have won their court battle with producer Jim Diamond, who accused the band of financial neglect after working on their first two albums. After just 20 minutes of deliberation, jurors found that producer Jim Diamond didn’t shape The White Stripes’ sound and was therefore not entitled to any royalties from the sale of the band’s music.

Jim Diamond, who owns the studio where the first two White Stripes LPs were recorded, did not have a hand in crafting the minimalist rock duo’s signature style and therefore isn’t owed any royalties gleaned through the sale of the band’s music, a panel of eight jurors ruled Thursday inside Detroit’s federal court.
The White Stripes denied that Diamond influenced its creativity in any way and stated he was paid $35 an hour for his producing and mixing input at the time.

The US District Court in Detroit has ruled that the duo will not have to fork out royalties for the music man, and also quashed claims he was pivotal in creating their signature sound.

Jack White’s attorney, Bert Deixler, told the jury the plaintiff had acted in a technical capacity and followed Jack’s instructions in the studio–not the other way around.
