Katharine McPhee Will Re-Join Idol Tour
The season five Idol runner-up was forced to skip the opening nights of the American Idols Live! tour due to “severe bronchitis and laryngitis,” promoters announced just hours before the start of Wednesday’s sold-out show in Manchester, New Hampshire.
“I am disappointed and I am sorry to disappoint my fans who will be attending the start of the American Idols Live tour,” McPhee said in a written statement. However, she said, “I need to follow my doctor’s orders to recuperate and reunite with the rest of the Idols.”
She’s resting now but Extra ran a special on Thursday night that showed the curvaceous songstress decked out in a 1960’s style baby doll swim suit for an OK! Magazine photo shoot that she completed in Malibu right before her illness struck.
Katharine McPhee told “Extra” that her life has completely changed thanks to “Idol.” Now, Kat hopes to one day meet her idols, starting with Oprah and Julia Roberts. “I think [Oprah] is someone who’s doing something with her celebrity that’s positive,” McPhee said. “I’d love to meet Julia Roberts. I’m a huge Julia fan.”
Life is good for the soulful songstress. She’ll soon rejoin the “Idol” tour, and Katharine’s new double-sided single “My Destiny”/”Somewhere over the Rainbow” is already creating big buzz.
“I think it’s well produced,” she said. “It sounds like a really good pop single, so I think at least young girls will like it.”
