Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie are to star in a fifth series of their reality TV show ‘The Simple Life’. Hilton and Richie fell out in April 2005 and the format for the current fourth season of the series allowed their scenes to be shot separately, with very little interaction between the two. E! Entertainment Television will air a fifth season of the reality-style series, which shows the tabloid-ready celebutantes thrown into everyday situations with real people, the network announced on Tuesday.

In separate reports, both Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie have issued conflicting statements about the status of their friendship and creative overlaps. “I don’t have any control over whether they’ll be friends by next season,” E! Networks president and CEO Ted Harbert tells PEOPLE. “We need to talk about the best thing to do for the show, and I’m not sure shooting them separately again is the best thing for the show.”
A source said: “They want to give the viewers what they want. What viewers want to see is Paris and Nicole together, fighting.”
Meanwhile, Paris - who is releasing her first single ‘Stars Are Blind’ in August - has revealed she is auditioning dancers for her tour which will start in September.

Nevertheless, “The Simple Life” has proven a big success for E!, drawing over 1.5 million viewers a week to more than triple the network’s prime-time average. Moreover, the network said at least 12 million viewers in total have tuned in to reruns of the show’s first 36 episodes, which E! also is airing.
The show moved to E! after Fox declined to air a fourth season. A new format allows the feuding friends to have nothing to do with each other.
