James Blunt gave Weird Al Jankovic his permission to send up his hit song You’re Beautiful before record bosses stepped in and put a stop to the parody. Yankovic said, “It was originally supposed to be the lead single on (his new album) Straight Outta Lynwood.”
But bosses at Atlantic Records, Blunt’s label, have refused to let it be included on Yankovic’s forthcoming new album.

Weird Al Yankovic says he actually got permission from Blunt to sing the parody You’re Pitiful, but the suits at Blunt’s label wouldn’t hear of it. “James had given it his blessing and we had a release date set, and then his label found out about it and told me that I couldn’t release the parody on my album under any circumstances,” Yankovic added.
“Now, I always respect the wishes of artists, but since it was just a bunch of suits, who were going against their own artist’s wishes, mind you, I had no problem offering the song as a free download on weirdal.com.”

His new CD is “Straight Outta Lynwood,” released in September. The first hit off the CD is “White & Nerdy,” a parody of “Ridin’ Dirty” by Chamillionaire. His video shows a nerd who is too white but wants to try to fit in with the gangstas.
The disc in “Straight Outta Lynwood” has a CD side and a DVD side. Songs on the CD include “Canadian Idiot,” a parody of Green Day’s “American Idiot”; “I’ll Sue Ya,” a Rage Against The Machine-style song about everything people can sue; “Polkarama!,” a mix of songs such as “Chicken Dance,” “Let’s Get it Started,” “Speed of Sound” and other songs sung accordion style; and “Trapped in The Drive-Thru,” a parody of R. Kelly’s “Trapped in the Closet” trilogy.
