What’s Your Favorite ? The Winners of People’s Choice Awards 2011

Winners People’s ChoiceEverybody knows that People Choice’s Awards often is no more than a popularity contest, but it nevertheless shows about what kind of stuffs many people would be willing to spend their time, sense, admiration, and money for. From the much expected People’s Choice Awards 2011 at the Nokia Theatre, here are some winners from various categories, and some of them might be in your own list.

From the movie categories, it is clear that the Twilight saga is still out there, mesmerizing teenagers and adults everywhere and resulted in total four awards, including Favorite Movie, Favorite Drama Movie, Favorite Movie Actress, and Favorite On-Screen Team. Kristen “Bella” Stewart also got the honor to bring the Favorite Movie Actress award.

Betty Buckley is the true example of a diva. The Broadway singer, television star, and Tony-Award-winning actress, had once again brought spectacular concert to her fans at the Carolina Theatre in Durham. Her concert, titled “Betty Buckley : Broadway by Request,” took her audience into her personal journey, sharing stories, songs and emotions from her career journey with great honesty. Buckley’s voice was in top-notch form and she commanded the stage with confidence and ease.

For example, the classic piece from “Sunset Boulevard,” “As If We Never Said Goodbye,” followed by song from “1776,” were songs from the days she made her early debut. Thanksgiving is near, and thus Ina Garten reaches the status as semi-goddess in the internet world. The famous 62-years old chef, who hosted the Food Network show “Barefoot Countessa,” got her food-arrangement style featured as Thanksgiving’s version of Google Doodle, the main logo of Google which sometimes be changed to honor particular days or celebrations like Halloween or Christmas. The iconic logo have links to recipes by the popular chef.

Normally, Google regularly switches the logo to honor authors, inventions or holidays, but this is the first time, to their recollection, that it is linked to specific, curated set of content. Normally, clicking the Google Doodle will bring users to a page of Google search results for that specific query.

Many agree that Ina Garten, who is also a former White House nuclear policy analyst, clearly deserves the honour. Garten is known for designing recipes in emphasis on fresh ingredients and time-saving tips. She is also famous for her finely-tuned comfort foods. Her style, some commented, is gracious, unfussy, and delicious. She has been noted by Martha Stewart, Oprah Winfrey, and Patricia Wells for her cooking and home entertaining. Read more!

Malin Ackerman to Role in Linda Lovelace’s Biopic

Malin Ackerman in infernoMalin Ackerman will soon role in “Inferno,” a biopic film that soon to be directed by Matthew Wilder. The Swedish-Canadian actress got the role after Lindsay Lohan lost it due to her rehabilitation issues. Appearantly, Wilder could not wait longer for Lohan to get through her legal struggles against drug abuse, while the film date is getting nearer. At first, Wilder was concerned about Lohan’s issues, and even supported her to get the main role, but Lohan reportedly violated her probation rules, leading to an extension of her rehabilitation until January 3rd, 2010.

“Lindsay had scheduling issues due to legal obligations and is continuing to focus on getting better in rehabilitation in Palm Spring, and she really had to focus on that in our opinion, and hers,” said the film’s producer, Chris Hanley.

On the other side, Hanley said that Ackerman, who had played female superhero Silk Spectre II in “Watchmen,” is so excited to get the role as Linda Lovelace, the controversial, legendary porn star whose story will become the main center in the film. She even confidently admitted that she has talent to meet the challenge in the role. Lily RabeJill Clayburgh, the sophisticated, leading figure in independent’s woman role in Hollywood movies might have died, but her legacy is still alive in her daughter, Lily Rabe. Apparently, Lily has been influenced by her mother and is growing up to become one of the most promising Broadway actress.

Lily, who was born in 1982 in suburban New York, attended the Hotchkiss School boarding school in Lakeville, but honed her acting skill in the estremely intense acting program at Northwestern University. She spent most of her childhood practicing ballet, before finally decided to give herself an acting shot. During her years at Northwestern University, she got a chance to work with her mother at the Gloucester Stage Company in Massachusetts.

Two years after graduating from Northwestern, she landed on her first Broadway role, a revival of Steel Magnolias, that proved to be her big breakthrough. After that, she landed on role after role, invluding MCC’s production Colder Than Here in 2005, and Heartbreak House in 2006, which was taken from George Bernard Shaw’s work and earned praise from New York Time’s critic, Charles Iserwood. Hollywood Actress Jill Clayburgh Dies of Leukemia

Jill Clayburgh DiesHollywood and Broadway have lost one more of their best actress. Jill Clayburgh, a film and television actress, Oscar and Emmy nominee, and Broadway star, has died at the age of sixty-six because of leukemia. Her husband, playwright David Rabe, said that she had fought over her illness for more than twenty years. She died at her home in Connecticut.

Jill is best remembered for her role in a heart-wrenching drama film, An Unmarried Woman (1978). In that film, she played Erica, a wife and mother whose husband leaves her for a younger woman. Erica then starts a relationship with an artist, played by Alan Bates. For that role, she won best actress award at Cannes Film Festival. She also got Emmy nomination for her role as a prostitute in Hustling, the 1975 TV movie.

Jill said that her decision to play realistic characters who face the real life’s challenges was because there was practically not much to do for women on the screen during 1950’s and 1960’s era. The only recognizable woman on the screen was Marilyn Monroe. Although Jill declared that she was indeed great, she also stated that “she (Monroe) had to play a one-sided character, a vulnerable sex object. It was a real fantasy.” Read more!

Beyonce PregnancyBack in March, rumors that Beyonce was pregnant were quickly shot down by the singer’s rep. Now, seven months later, the same rumors are back. On Wednesday (October 20), Usmagazine reported that unnamed sources say B and her rap mogul husband, Jay-Z, are expecting a bundle of joy.

The rumor about Beyonce being pregnant has been confirmed. Beyonce is doing fine and having rest. However, she’s expected to continue working throughout her pregnancy. And we’re also told that Jay Z is extremely happy to be having his first child with Bey.

The couple, who married in 2008 following a six-year courtship, have been plagued by pregnancy rumors for, well, as long as we can remember. We’re pretty sure it was reported that Beyonce was pregnant on the set of the video for their 2003 duet ”03 Bonnie & Clyde.’ That’s a LONG pregnancy. The last seven or so years, which have been packed with albums and tours and elaborate videos, must have been very uncomfortable for the diva, who is said to be hard at work on her next record with a host of big-name producers.
