Tom Cruise As The Most Sexist Celebrity imageTom Cruise got slammed last week in Australia, where he was named winner of the “Celebrity Ernie Award” for a so-called sexist comment that award organizers claim he made. Cruise, who was judged to be the winner in the celebrity list, managed to beat all contenders in his category by a past comment about his then-pregnant fiancée Katie Holmes.
“Tom’s comments that they have attributed to him are completely fabricated,” his rep, Arnold Robinson, tells PEOPLE. “Anyone who knows him knows that he is a complete gentleman and would never ever say such a thing. … He has the utmost respect for women.”

The award organizers cited one of Cruise’s comments from earlier this year, before the actress gave birth to Suri: “I’ve got Katie tucked away so no one will get to us until my child is born.” Read more!

Chris Brown As Best New Artist At BET AwardsChris Brown, da R&B crooner, won best new artist at the sixth annual BET Awards (The Black Entertainment Network) on Tuesday night. Other early winners were Prince for male R&B artist, Missy Elliott for female hip-hop artist and NBA star LeBron James as best male athlete.

Jamie Foxx entered the show as the top nominee with five bids for BET Awards, which recognize the best in hip-hop, R&B, gospel and music videos, as well as athletes and actors. Special honors planned for the evening included a lifetime achievement award for Chaka Khan and a humanitarian award for Harry Belafonte, as reported by AP Entertainment.
Khan was among a star-studded roster of performers, which included Beyonce, Prince, Mariah Carey, Kanye West, four-time nominee Mary J. Blige, and Foxx, who had five nominations. Read more!

Taylor Hicks is ranked as the No. 1 “hottest bachelor” by People magazine. The 29-year-old silver-haired crooner from Birmingham tops People’s list in the magazine’s new issue, on newsstands Friday. But the “Idol” winner says he’d happily give up his bachelor days if he finds the right woman.

“There’s been no time,” Hicks says of his dating life. “Now, I wouldn’t mind spending the rest of my life with the right woman.” Hicks also wants to find a woman he exchanged glances with on a recent airline flight. Of the mystery blonde, he says, “We waved and did a double-take look. It seemed like something out of a movie.” Read more!

Will Sean Connery Appear in Indiana Jones 4?

Sean ConneryGeorge Lucas is hoping that he can tempt actor Sean Connery into reprising his role of Henry Jones in the next Indiana Jones adventure. Sean Connery has recently announced his retirement from acting, so this confrontation might prove interesting. Apparently Lucas is writing Sean Connery into the script “whether he wants to do it or not”.
“I would love him to be in the next Indiana Jones…maybe I can push him into it,” he told Access Hollywood. “We are writing him in whether he wants to do it or not.” George Lucas has told Access Hollywood’s Maria Menounos he is pushing to get Sean Connery to appear in Indiana Jones 4. The interview airs on Access Hollywood, Friday, June 9, 2006.

Lucas is producing the fourth movie in the franchise as Harrison Ford returns as the whip-cracking archaeologist, and the story apparently involves Indy’s father, Henry Jones. The former Bond actor received a standing ovation from the star-studded audience, which included ‘Star Wars’ creator George Lucas, as well as legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg and veteran actor Harrison Ford. 50 Cent, Green Day And Lennox Win Songwriting

Rapper 50 Cent, singer Annie Lennox and Green Day have been honoured by a group of their songwriting peers. The hip hop superstar took home top honors at the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers’ Pop Music Awards Monday night, where he was named Songwriter of the Year by a group of industry peers.
The awards, voted on by more than 700 songwriters, recording artists and industry leaders, were doled out at the Beverly Hilton Hotel and in addition to Eminem’s protégé, also gave kudos to Green Day, Annie Lennox and Kelly Clarkson.
Green Day’s Boulevard Of Broken Dreams and Mariah Carey’s We Belong Together - written by Johnta Austin, Jermaine Dupri and Manuel Seal - were joint winners of the Song Of The Year Award, while the punk trio also won the Creative Voice Award. Read more!

Jessica Alba to Host the MTV Movie Awards

Jessica AlbaIt has been announced that Jessica Alba will host this year’s MTV Movie Awards. Star of both big screen and small, Alba will host the MTV ceremony, as well as star in its leading role as this year’s show promises to be more than an award show, but a movie unto itself.
Jessica Alba is also up for three nominations at this year’s event including “Best Hero” and “Best On-Screen Team” for her performance in the Fantastic Four (20th Century Fox), along with “Sexiest Performance” for her role in Sin City (Dimension Films), a film also up for “Best Movie” honors. Filming June 3rd at Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City, CA, the “2006 MTV Movie Awards” will premiere to audiences nationwide on Thursday, June 8th at 9pm ET/PT on MTV.

Commenting on her new role, Alba said: “The MTV Movie Awards is like a three-ring circus and I’m thrilled they asked me to be this year’s ringmaster.”
