Angelina Jolie To Play Widow

Angelina Jolie To Play Widow picFor her first live-action role since giving birth, Angelina Jolie will star in “A Mighty Heart” as Mariane Pearl — widow of murdered US journalist Daniel Pearl, who was killed by terrorists. The film will examine his reasons for being in Pakistan, his abduction and his wife’s attempts to find him. “I am delighted that Angelina Jolie will be playing my role in the adaptation of my book,” said Pearl.

A source said: “She’s horrified that Brad has handed the role meant for her to Angelina. “It was Jen who actually persuaded Daniel Pearl’s wife to sell them the movie rights.
“She hoped it would win her an Oscar. It is heartless, but the bottom line is Brad got ownership of Plan B in the divorce settlement, so he can do what he likes.” Read more!

Daniel Pearl Book To Movies

Josh Lucas picDaniel Pearl life is the subject of two Hollywood movies in the pipeline, and Josh Lucas has been picked up to star in an untitled thriller under director Kip Williams (Door in the Floor). The thriller will be inspired by the Bernard-Henri Levy book titled Who Killed Daniel Pearl?
This movie is based on French author Bernard-Henri Levy’s book Who Killed Daniel Pearl? in which Levy describes his investigations in Pakistan that lead him to conclude that Pearl was actually killed because he uncovered a nexus between the Pakistani Inter Service Intelligence, ISI, agency and Al Qaeda.

Pearl’s character has been fictionalised and Levy has been changed into an American television presenter who gets his hands dirty looking for an answer to why Pearl was killed.
The reason for the fictionalisation is that the movie-makers did not want a clash with the other film being made on Pearl’s life, based on the book by his widow Marianne Pearl, A Mighty Heart.

The project will be produced by Beacon CEO Charlie Lyons with production set to begin this fall. Some of the locations beings scouted for the shoot are Morocco, Dubai, India, Libya and Tunisia.
