Jennifer Lopez, Dr.Condoleezza Rice and Isabella Rossellini were just some of the movers-and-shakers to attend the Time 100 Dinner in honor of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People on Monday, May 8 In New York.

This year’s honorees ranged from artists and entertainers to scientists and world leaders, and included Ellen DeGeneres, comedienne and TV hostess; Jim Yong Kim, Chief of both the Department of Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School and the Division of Social Medicine at Boston’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital; and Dubai’s ruler-at-large, Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum. Jennifer Lopez and the ‘Carmen’ Project

Jennifer Lopez reportedly having trouble on getting a backer for a film musical based on the George Bizet opera Carmen. According to the New York Daily News, investors aren’t willing to put up the $50 million needed for the project, even though Ray director Taylor Hackford was tapped to direct the film. Hackford said Thursday (December 29), “Carmen is on its last legs. Studios are so frightened at the moment that they are looking for outside money.”

Hackford thinks that there’s a lot of fear in Hollywood because so many films aren’t doing well at the box office. But, he also admits that studio heads think audiences won’t accept JLo as the legendary vixen who is murdered by her jilted lover. He said, “[Carmen] is not a sweet, nice girl. This is a piece about a criminal. We want to do a tough, hard version, but Hollywood thinks the audience [for Jennifer Lopez] is 13-year-old girls. …It has an ending that Hollywood does not like to make.” Read more!

Jennifer Lopez, Extortion Plot Thwarted

Jennifer LopezAccording to the New York Post, Tito Moses, 31, and Steven Wortman, 40, were busted after trying to sell the video to undercover cops posing as Anthony’s associates.
That 2 man accused of attempting to extort $1 million from Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony in exchange for the salsa singer’s stolen laptop, which held a digital copy of the couple’s June 2004 nuptials, were arrested during an NYPD sting operation Tuesday.

“They were shocked because they thought they were coming for their payday–and instead, they got the surprise of their lives,” Major Case Squad Inspector Michael Hines told the newspaper. Read more!
