Tina Fey For NBC Primetime

Tina FeyTina Fey and Andy Richter are bound for NBC’s primetime schedule next season. Exactly where on the schedule their new comedy series will land was anyone’s guess as of Sunday.

Networks Present TV Ad-Selling Season

With all the strategy sessions and leaps of faith, the annual television network upfront presentations are a bit like the NFL or NBA drafts.
Despite the changes swirling through the media industry, however, television has yet to be dethroned as the most powerful medium on the planet for reaching mass audiences.
The challenge that networks have now is getting advertisers to continue paying as much money for ads as they have in the past.

This week ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and the fledgling CW and My Network TV will present their fall schedules in theaters packed with advertisers. The network executives will announce which pilots they’ve decided to make into shows, which series they’ve canceled and which old favorites they’ve decided to risk moving to new nights. Read more!

Diane Keaton On Paris Deal

Diane KeatonDiane Keaton, the Oscar-winning actress, who is 60, will star as a spokesperson for L’Oreal Paris and its brands. She will debut for L’Oreal Paris in print and TV supporting its Age-Perfect line of facial creams and makeup.
Carol J. Hamilton, president of the L’Oreal Paris division of L’Oreal USA Inc., said in a statement, “She’s a natural beauty. Nothing artificial. And she’s comfortable with who she is.”

In a statement, Keaton said, “I love that L’Oreal is a company known for empowering women. I also like how L’Oreal is very involved in charity work. I love that L’Oreal is found all over the world and is made for women of all ages, and for women of all skin and hair colors.”
A spokeswoman for the company declined to comment on the terms of the deal.

L’Oreal’s other celebrity reps have included Scarlett Johansson, Andie McDowell, Penelope Cruz, Heather Locklear and Eva Longoria.

100 Most Influential People

Jennifer Lopez, Dr.Condoleezza Rice and Isabella Rossellini were just some of the movers-and-shakers to attend the Time 100 Dinner in honor of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People on Monday, May 8 In New York.

This year’s honorees ranged from artists and entertainers to scientists and world leaders, and included Ellen DeGeneres, comedienne and TV hostess; Jim Yong Kim, Chief of both the Department of Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School and the Division of Social Medicine at Boston’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital; and Dubai’s ruler-at-large, Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum. Housewives Desperate for Latin Flavor

Buena Vista International Television Latin America announced plans Thursday to produce four new versions of the Golden Globe-winning series in Spanish and Portuguese.
Each version of the show will have its own cast and cultural allusions, though the underlying plot will stay true to the format of the original series.

The Spanish versions of the show, titled Amas de casas desesperadas, will air in Colombia, Argentina and Ecuador and the Portuguese version, titled Donas de casa desesperadas, will air in Brazil.

“The script of the series perfectly fit the profile of what the Latin American audience looks for,” Fernando Barbosa, senior vice president of Buena Vista International Television Latin America, said in a statement. “It looks similar to the telenovelas.” Read more!

Oprah Winfrey supports embattled writer Frey

Oprah Winfrey with her powerful TV talk show, threw her support to embattled author James Frey on Wednesday, saying a national uproar over whether he fictionalized parts of his best-selling memoir was “much ado about nothing.”

Appearing as a surprise caller on CNN’s “Larry King Live” after King had gently quizzed Frey for nearly an hour, Winfrey broke her silence over whether his “A Million Little Pieces” was still a choice of her book club and had her endorsement. Read more!
